Our Green West Orange is a community-based, resident-led organization focused on improving West Orange for its residents, businesses, and environment. A safer, greener, & more affordable place to live, work, visit, & shop: Principals we stand for!
You don't need to stand under a tree being illegally cut. (As an OGWO founding member did in front of St. Joe's!) Are you passionate about improving West Orange, and making it more affordable, safer, and greener? Let us know! We are always looking for new members to help develop and promote our community‘s residents’ vision of what “being green, safe, & affordable” is. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits your talents and passions. Neighborhood representatives are needed. We're excited to have you join the team!
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, advocating through word-of-mouth, or sharing & contributing on our FB group & website - thank you! We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you. OGWO is in the process of filing itself as a 501(c)3 organization. Our leaders are all West Orange residents. We volunteer our time, energy, talent, and are committed to making West Orange green, safe, and affordable.
Our Green West Orange is a non-profit 501(c)3, located in West Orange, NJ. Board members, committee leaders, and group members are volunteers. Board officers are nominated by the board members, and serve a one (1) year term.
Our Green West Orange (OGWO) is guided by three (3) principals, all based on transparency, education, public policy and practice, and enforcement of local, county, and state ordinances.
Our Green West Orange:
Our Green West Orange does not endorse political candidates, nor individuals appointed to positions by elected officials. OGWO takes pride in endorsing issues that we as a collective of volunteers and residents feel move West Orange forward in an environmentally progressive and financially sound manner. We endorse practices and policies that promote the safety of the public, while respecting the wildlife and nature that call West Orange home.
We support the work our elected and appointed officials provide in our mission to help make West Orange an environmentally and financially secure township, and one that promotes the safety and health of its residents. OGWO regularly commends those community members - elected, appointed, owners of businesses, residents, teachers, community leaders - on work they have and continue to do. As an advocacy organization, we are not shy to speak out against policies and practices that we as an organization feel threaten the successes of our mission. (Mission, as stated above.)
Advocacy work that addresses concerns surrounding the environmental, public safety and affordability are bound to ruffle feathers. But we are not in the chicken business. We are in the non-profit advocacy business fighting for the safety and health of West Orange residents and the environment. (OGWO members decided they were tired of having their own feathers ruffled, and united to make a difference!)
Members of Our Green West Orange are a patchwork of political, social, economic backgrounds and beliefs. We are all West Orange residents, and represent a variety of religions, races, genders, ages, and political platforms. We welcome new members to join our quest as we work to build a West Orange we can all be proud of.
No fees. No contracts. Just an investment of your ideas!
This is your West Orange. This is Our Green West Orange.
OGWO's work is based on the needs of residents. Keep everyone updated by posting your neighborhood news on the OGWO FB page.
