In June, the Zoning Board denied the Daughters of Israel's application to massively expand its campus to build luxury senior-living homes that would have subjected its existing elderly residents to six years of noise and pollution from the construction. Daughters of Israel sued the Zoning Board and is now trying to slip its mostly unchanged project through again by offering a settlement. But the settlement offers very little: they’ve reduced six years of construction to five, removed only six apartments and saved a few more trees. It seems like they are using the threat of litigation to force through a proposal that hasn't substantially changed. If you live near this area, the impact will be the same: huge construction behind your homes out of sync with the neighborhood, noise from rooftop a/c units and generators, major traffic on your streets, the destruction of more than 100 trees and the risks of flooding.
